Sides my new PC (thats currently fried) has 4GB DDR2 anyway, could have went for 4GB of DDR3 I suppose. The motherboard is capable of both (obviously not at the same time)

DDR3 isn't video card ram, it can be used as video card ram (like DDR & DDR2).
Its used in video cards because its faster than DDR2.
Well, Improved in Bandwidth, lower voltage needed.

I've been seeing video cards use DDR3 for some time now…

Its not quite matured at this time, and obviously a lot more expensive, but you can use it for RAM now 
P5K-C has some nice dual support. 4 DDR2 slots and 2 DDR3's (DDR3 runs at 1333)

Eww… 64bit. You poor soul. I find the lack of driver support to be quite obnoxious. I was glad to be rid of my old copy. First thing I did was piss on it, then soaked it in low-grade napalm. I'm sure you can guess what ensued.
