Mega Graal (Tentative name)

EDIT: Server is now online, very little is actually up, though. Added moving platforms and plan to make enemies in the very near future. Afterwards, expect to play through a full level and boss fight, but that may be a while off…

Right. Anyway…


-Note the missing hurt and death animations

So far I’ve gotten most of the classic Mega Man shit down. I’m just looking to perfect the physics now and then start adding some of the more advanced stuff…

The idea is simple enough:

-Singleplayer Mega Man experience while on the server
-Co-op Mega Man experience
-Collect screws ala Mega Man 9 and purchase items with them
-Participate in events and gain “Mega Screws”, which allow for other purchases
-“Sparring”

However…

I can’t host this on my own computer. Any body want to help out there? :slight_smile:

Of course I’ll be looking for artists who enjoy painstakingly copy and pasting things from Mega Man into the Graal tileset layout and maybe creating their own stuff as well.

Level designers would be nice too. I suck at it.

I might host it for you. But my servers is in sweden so australians have massive lag. americans has some lag and europeans has basically none. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m making it a body, so you’d be able to do stuff like “setskin” etc, however, I’m removing those commands because in classic Mega Man style, different weapons change your body color.

Moving platforms…

The platform warps there because timevar hits 100 and loops back to 0. I’ve thought of a simple fix for this already but haven’t gotten around to adding it yet :X

pretty cool, and Marlon you still have shell access to the dedicated server I have in America just put it up on there. If not I can give you the information and downsider can have information to log onto it as well.

Too bad I cancelled it because ripping sprites and ganiing them is too boring dor me LOL

sprite ripping is pretty easy, especially if its already done for you. look up sprites inc. its all megaman sprites. could help out a lot. as for ganis…yeah ganis are boring haha.

they are all sheeted so the work is done for ya. i hope ya finish this project, i would definently would play here, and i know a bunch of communities out there who would jump right in as well. hope you start it up again mate. :slight_smile:

The systems were done as far as the movement and platforms. If you’d like, map the Megaman tiles to a tileset, make some levels and I’ll have a bit more of a spur to finish the project…

But I’m sure you’d never do that. But if you did, I’d hold true to my word…

hmmm, this could be a possibility.

ok so after some hard work and patience, and working on this on and off for like a month or so now, i bring you the megagraal tileset ver.1.0. reason its like this because i need to know if i have to set trancperancys with tilsets. also i cant test it because i dont know the script to load it in. anyways!

  • Tiles fully aligned (some might be off a bit, but i was being very precise, so it might be perfect)
  • tiles not only from megaman 1, but 1,2,3,4,5, and 6, as well as original metroid and super mario 2, and a couple of other classic games to put more depth and openess to it.
  • tiles are arranged over the classic tileset, so blockable tiles are surfaces to walk on, and walkable tiles are the background for a 2d experience (withy our engine, i hope it works like sync)
  • this is just a complete copy and original has room for additional tiles as well.
  • removed stefan and unixfail’s chaotic alternate pieces around tiles being used for easier to find tiles for map making, might possibly shorten length of developing levels.
    this was also to reduce colour and tileset size as in bytes.
  • remade some tiles to they sync better together, making it easier to make nice corners, drop ins, etc.

if you got any request to add to these tiles that you saw in a megaman game, give me a shout and i will gladly add more to em.

but yeah this tileset is for use with the megagraal server, and as said i did work on it for ya. i had a couple other ideas, i was playing with the sprites and stuff, but instead of everyone being just megaman, maybe players can play as enemy mavericks for different powers and abilities to fight eachother with. for example you could have a healer unit to heal another player while you guys battle, or say metal man from megaman 2 can shoot 4 directions instead of just the left and right shots. or crash man, shooting land minds that blow up. just an idea.

anyways i had a lot of fun with this project, if you need any sprites ripped, fixed, and put into game format (enemy animations, weapon effects, GUI, item sets, menus, etc)
id gladly help you with it.

EDIT: it may look big and empty and not enough, but i assure you, you can make 8-9 different types of levels with these.

Each Megaman level consists of loads of repetitive tiles. So you don’t need a whole lot.
