I didn’t change it to have a direct source of light, I only changed the trunk.
I’m trying to provide some constructive criticism, and get this guy to understand what he can do better for everyone to have a good time. I’m playing my part in it, and giving my two cents.

I see what your saying about the trunk but I did that to add some depth I don’t like the generic look of a totally straight trunk it looks uber fake in nature trunks get wider toward the top as a result of the branches but with 3/4 top down view the branches themselves aren’t visible because the leaves overshadow them. The part I want to fix eventually is the top because it looks square . As for light sources its not safe to throw a light source on tiles remember these can be rearranged however by lats if I define light and shade in greater detail there will me a whole mess of tile errors. Lighting effects will be utilized to provide real light sources.
I wasn’t knocking trixta’s opinion I’m serious everyone has their own likes and dislikes there are some styles I can’t stand but he didn’t provide any insight he just said he didn’t dig it and that’s totally cool.
You gotta relax on the flying off the handle this is all just pixel art anyway insulting people over this is ridiculous but thanks for your observations
well actually if I had to put some input, the trees themselves actually grow in a more cone like fashion for the main trunk with many curving cones coming outward from the main trunk and smaller branches coming outward from those branches
main trunk -> main branches -> smaller branches

I completely understand where you’re coming from. Though I think some highlights might do wonders for the trees. There doesn’t necessarily have to be a direct light source.
Depends on what style he’s going for. If you want to be realistic then add highlights everywhere and make sure shading is correct. He might be going for grungy dirty style for all you know, and that has nothing to do with highlights.
just my 2 pence
Well It’s kinda hard to define my style hopefully it will make more sense when its closer to completion I want it semi cartoonish like graal but with a darker grittier feel. Custom everything I’m not using any default shit made by anybody else.
I plan on making a hardcore monster slayer type of server with a low level cap but different abilities / skills to learn 3 warring factions fighting over control points like forts and original designs. Your not going to see elves dwarfs and mainstream shit. Think tactics ogre kights of lodis meets the action of diablo 2 and the sandbox nature of graal with community things to do besides slaughtering beasts from hell with a fantasy setting and lots of side quests.
It doesn’t make a ton of sense now but you will see progress in the next few months I want a mature feel to this and not a bunch on nine year old kids using the pull /push animation to hump things expect adult humor, alcohol and tobacco reference, recklessly obscene language, and cartoonish blood and guts. Its coming with a disclaimer for young kids and people who go to church.
okay, as an artist of another community I have been trying to tell people that there is no way to DEFINE a style. If there is any way to define a style or put a label on it, it’s simply by calling it YOUR style, or say Sublime Style, or Kondie Style. And yes, I wholely agree with what you just said Sublime, style isn’t something you can just tell someone about, you have to express it.
edit My POINT is that everyone is going to have a different style. Let them express it and work on it. Criticism helps but it also helps the person derail themselves and start copying others.
My style is a mix of Pokemon, Zelda, Dusty, Aeko, and many other graphics artists. I pieced together the things I enjoyed out of others, and made it my own sort of style.
I literally don’t see any of those in your style at all, just so you know. I’ve tried saying I have a certain “style” that I’m copying, and it turned out in the end that even that person denied that I looked like his style.
please don’t take this the wrong way though. I don’t mean any of this harshly.
working on cliff tiles getting late and tired maybe more later on
i knew it
