I thought what I said was pretty clear. Connect one side of the map to the other, basically wrap it around. I’ve done it one time, but on a fairly small scale. I would love to see it done on a larger scale.
did it once to shaded but it was just an island with water all around it . no one ever ventured out that far anyways . how did people not grasp the concept of “wrapping the world around” . jesus …
I also think it’s a neat idea. It’s be pretty cool if the map could be adjusted to work with a wrapped world. For instance, if whenever a player views the map, that player is centered and the map is drawn around that center point. Otherwise I feel like the world wrap would make the map senseless.

The concept is simple. The original explanation just was just a tad lacking. Simmer down.
Even if the map didn’t work it wouldn’t be that bad. If you could, however, make the map work like that and even create a nice transition between the edges that just would just be perfect. :D
Agreed. I wish we’d thought of that before we started. At this point, it’d be an assload of unneccesary work… And since we’ve already got an assload of work ahead of us, we’ll probably let this one slide.
It didn’t happen because the small servers were too stupid to think of it and the big servers had staff that was too lazy to link the levels. Simple.
edit: god damnit I swear to god if my hobby becomes working on a server while my internet is down I will hang myself after it’s submitted.
The problem is that it’s not just linking levels. If that were all we had to do, it’d be no big thing. But we built “natural borders” around the edges of our map… so it wouldn’t really make any sense even if the links existed… Swim off the bottom of the map and be on the top of mountains at the top… nah.
The forums are kind of slow. Just letting you all know (i know that you care) that we are still developing with a good steady pace.
Currently we are working on:
-A Universal GUI. This would include the Qmenu, all shop and mini game GUI’s.
-A mining system. This is almost done, we are fine tuning it and implementing in the map.
Remember, questions and comments are welcome and encouraged.
Just in case anyone is curious we are still working hard on Phoenix.
Currently what we are working on:
-We’ve got a new Q-menu GUI in place and are working on a Shop GUI that matches the Qmenu.
-We’ve extended one quest and are currently building another.
-Mining system is done. Just needs implemented onto the map.
Cool stuff, i never see anyone on when i check out the serverlist via RC. When do you guys work on this :\
I got up about 6am this morning and was on RC
Typically, we don’t just hangout on RC and develop. Most of the stuff is done offline, except for when we need to upload stuff or test scripts/implement stuff. Tric, Rone and I all have very conflicting schedules, but we do pretty well to get all our stuff together.
@hosler - Trust me, there will be lots of questing. As well as other stuff too. One of our missions was to try and make Phoenix a social thing. Dungeon type quests almost have to be done singleplayered. While that is all well and good for some fun, we want to try and make the game fun with other people too. So, we work on more than just quests With that said, they are still coming along. Worry not!
I liked the quests I did when I was allowed to check it out. I love puzzles, and Phoenix has 'em.
That’s actually really nice of you to say. It means a lot coming from you!
I think you’ll be happy, then, with the developments. Admittedly, our quests are light on the baddies and more heavily focused on the puzzles. The more puzzle quests we build the better and more involved they are getting. Plus, as you progress you’ll have to use the items from previous quests to solve new puzzles.
One server cannot revive GR. People join GR because they want to make their own shit.
Yes, but they soon get over that phase once they learn how much work’s actually involved and then they’d rather play. I wouldn’t mind just playing given there was a decent server to do so.
