Want to have hats? Use sethat.

You’re missing the point, I’m afraid. Using sethat makes hats worthless. Making them achievable shows some sort of gaming hierarchy, the “I have this and you don’t,” effect. For some reason this resonates a lot with players in games I’ve played that have a similar collecting element.

They will simply be collectables you can show off. If you don’t want them, don’t collect them :stuck_out_tongue:

lol hats are a status symbol

Hats are used in many games for collection :stuck_out_tongue: So are many other items, for example on G2k2 I collect many different weapons and items even though I don’t use them it’s something I have that others don’t; that’s what makes it fun. :stuck_out_tongue: Spooon you would be a bad game developer.

Zolderon was actually pretty good.

No. Hates are stupid.

Yeah, hate is stupid; that’s why you should hush :stuck_out_tongue: “hate” is all you can do. That’s why you got kicked from Classic as well :stuck_out_tongue:
So hush.

Okay, okay. We know what Spooon meant. No need to push his buttons.

For fear of derailment, lets leave it at that for now. We can discuss the usefulness of hats somewhere else or at a more relevant time.

Y’know, this is probably gonna be my favorite server here. Mainly because it isn’t random crap thrown together by an idiot.

I sincerely hope so! We try to make sure that the server will have the “flow” of a real game, but also the spontaneity of an MMO. That takes a lot of planning, forethought and also a lot of luck. It’s taking us a while, but it’s not on account of laziness. We chug along everyday. Support and interest in what we are doing is greatly appreciated

Hold on, how are you gonna attract a good sized player base? The kingdoms system would need a lot of active people at a fairly constant rate to work out, and graal reborn isn’t really known for large playerbases. Or known in general x-x

I’ll make a mob of npc workers you can employ. They’ll be pretty pricey though.

Right. So that is the big conundrum we here at GR are faced with. What we’ve noticed is that we get new users frequently enough to make this place a decent sized community. The problem is is that there is nothing to do here. Speaking from experience I know that making a player-world is neither easy or fun (for the most part). People do start their own projects, but I know people get frustrated and decide they have more important real life things to do. If we have a player-world, any player-world, people who would rather play than develop have that outlet. Right now this place is only friendly (very loosely) to developers. What we need is content to bring players in.

When people do develop, typically, they leave their worlds up in the developmental stage. People get on for like the first week or so do everything that can be done and stop going on. This is why we keep our player-world private actually. We plan on building the whole player-world and having enough good content to keep people coming back on with no reason to quit prematurely. We hope this constant logging of people will not only prevent new people from leaving, but keep them. Having enough content means people stay on longer. Having people stay on longer, hopefully, will make regular users out of some. We don’t need a huge player base. A regular log of like 20-50 people would be AMAZING.

I guess next we would try and draw people from Graalians and Official by word of mouth. Tricxta is members of both forums and I know Kondie is on Graalians. Hopefully a little PR will help get a few curious Graalians over here and Phoenix may keep them.

Also, we are hoping that other projects develop. We aren’t under the illusion that Phoenix alone can “save” GR. So, we can only hope so of our new devs stay on and keep developing.

This server looks very appealing and I look forward to explore it. If it is a success I might fix up the registration process to make it easier to join. Maybe make a Graal installer with ONE client instead of 4 so that people doesn’t get lost in the process. Good luck! =)

Y’know, it would be actually kinda funny/nightmarish if you start pulling in playercounts of the iServers’ caliber.

Not to mention they get high counts with TERRIBLE servers. If think if we have a good player-world we should be able to draw in some people.

Hopefully, whatever Cadavre and company is working on, plus Downsider’s work will help advance our accessibility to people.

request: rename Graal Reborn to Graal Barely-Hanging-On-by-a-Thread.

Too long? Too long.

also off topic of the off topic.

Looking good. Nice work.

lol we all need to make a daily idle commitment so our playercount goes up.
