Acer troubles(aspire 4741g)

So recently my laptop has started overheating and turning off. I assume my case is pretty clogged up with dust…
So I started dismantling my laptop after a few informative guides… and came stuck when I found my hard drive.

All videos demonstrating this have a easy slide out hard drive which makes it look piss easy…
If any of you have ever had to disassemble a 4741, help would be most appreciated. As I’m unsure of how to get this thing out without possibly breaking something :S
Also… There’s no easy way of doing it right? The whole front has to come off?

Why do you need to take out your hard drive to clean a cpu fan?

My fan is constantly on anyway, I don’t think that’s the issue.

Try going to the power settings and turning the CPU speed down to 90%. Can have a dramatic impact on overheating issues.

Thanks! not a bad idea at all. Still would love to be able to get this damn hard drive cover off :C

I’ve only disassembled 5750g and 5741g and both had pretty easy to slide out harddrives. Are you sure it won’t just slide out if you wiggle it a little?

I’ve watched those videos, this isn’t really anything like it, maybe if I could pry the cover off(somehow…) there might be some space to slide it. I’m just scared of bending something.

Merged doublepost_______________

Oh wow, can’t believe I missed this…

I feel dumb now :frowning:

Heh, easy mistake. I’ve done all my disassembling without tutorials, it’s rather easy after you’ve done it on a couple of computers.

Last time I did it I had to solder the points that makes the dynamic headphone shit work, since the port was fucked. Figured that shit out with some trial and error.
