I’m not sure if it’s possible to have direct link avatars in the forum. Because even if you specify an url it downloads/uploads the avatar to the server. Possibly a plugin of some sorts, but vBulletin is such a mess to do anything with so I prefer not to.

If you’ve ever been working with vBulletin you should know this.
