I’m thinking we need to differentiate the new/development/stalled/cruddy remake servers from those with content. It ought to help retain new players and push everybody to build up a half decent server as the list gets going.

Is there any way we can get somebody to consistently host Dreamscape under the Classic tab, assuming Orphen would be okay with that. Lumina would probably be reasonable for the list as well.

Now I’m going to make everybody mad and suggest we drop Gold and put Harmonia and Waffles on the hosted list until they have more content as well.

I think this needs to be built upon as well… instead of this free for all cluster fuck of half finished content. I think enforcing Classic tab rules would make the dev community a lot more inclined to work on things for their servers.

Or force all servers to be UC until they’re good enough to show at all.

The Gold, Silver and Bronze system is there to make people work for their servers to end up in Silver or Gold.

I don’t know why Nalin made the listserver show all Bronze servers as Classic on the 2.171 client when the official listserver puts them in UC.

We need to push people to let go of the old GServers and focus on using newer clients.

Putting all new servers to only support 2.22 client is also a good idea.

I’ll have to start working on the playerworlds/serverhq system so people can register their servers and so mods can change if the server is able to go higher than UC.

Waffles is only on Silver a.k.a Classic tab so people know where to go to cause crashes so Nalin can fix them later. One good idea would be to have a server where anyone can log in as RC and do whatever to cause it to crash. Hmmm…

True, BUT, if all servers only allow 2.2.2, why would the listserver need to show all the “Hosted tab”-servers as classic on 2.17?

I know, I know, I know, but the listserver doesn’t need to do that anymore since the old GServer is deprecated and the new one is usable, but needs some work on it.

Put hosted servers in UC as the official listserver does to 2.171 clients. Could force people to only use 2.22 and using the new GServer software instead.

Atleast I’ve fixed the broken design and started to look into making the GuildHQ which is renamed to simply Guilds and the ServerHQ which is renamed to Playerworlds.

I work as a webdeveloper so I don’t like to do this stuff on my free time. So I’ll see when I get time at work.

Guilds will be totally revamped PHP-wise. The old system is buggy and deprecated and can’t be fixed without a total revamp, that’s why it takes time.

I dunno. A couple servers are up to /quality/, just not /quantity/…

First someone should hack a client that actually shows gold/silver/bronze instead of Gold/Classic/Hosted. And integrate secure login if they can figure out how.

… Maybe the listserver should just start rejecting Build ___ servers? And someone should alter the docs to mention that 2.2.2.0 is the default client now…

Which servers would those be?

I strongly prefer the Classic/Hosted tabs. No server is Gold Quality and it’s essentially a pay to play category anyway. And the official server project has made less progress than half of the random projects that pop up, so I can’t see having a special tab that shows it to the player first.

Hosted keeps the other servers visible, so people can have their newbie friends play without confusing them to no end with hidden crap. It’ll allow everybody to have their random little server, no matter how crappy or incomplete, and keep them off to the side enough that jerks like Spooon and I don’t get quite so upset with non-developed/over recycled servers having 20 players. (That are generally made up of five random noobs that all want staff power or some random script, five people on rc, and a remainder that’s mostly curious about the high player count that stick around a bit to socialize with each other. Plus everybody’s hacking now and that’s a tad frustrating.)

Dreamscape is stable, looks nice, has a handful of quests, so it would make a good base level for servers to live up to in order to obtain official status.

Maybe not all on topic, but I think there needs to be an official switch to the new client or something. It’s annoying going through the serverlist and getting that pop up saying I’m using the wrong client, and have to switch to the other. Especially when the servers are pretty much half new client half old.

The second an npc-server comes out, I guarantee that changes. =)

The one linked in general releases and from the new user page doesn’t.

Anyway, as part of emergency measures due to the fact that, uh, currently anyone not specially set up with an alternate system NPC has horribly corrupt tilesets, and all image downloads seem borked, Harmonia’s moved UC, and I think it should probably stay there for now >_<

There’s actually less old than new. So I just use 2.2.2. and skip the old GServers.

Anyone else experience that it looks like your character has two gani’s or two bodies sometimes when moving? It happens to me, I have no idea why, but it might be a broken gani that is spreading around.
