Gserver was so troublesome to download and compile that those who can should compile one every so many versions and put it available for download somewhere around here. Even if it’s not “official”
Last time that happened people had lots of issues with it.

Like what? I’m sure it was nothing involving my changes.
There are some crash bugs afaik. But noone knew how to report them. I personally haven’t had any issues with it. But I run it on linux.

I haven’t had any problems either.
Me neither
The script compiler is… finally… done… aside from any problems that pop up during bug testing. I should be able to start on the interpreter soon, which I’m not expecting to take as long as the compiler. Not by far. (Not that the compiler itself was entirely the problem… it was largely myself doing other things.) However, I do have up to 2 months of mandatory 10 hour overtime at work starting next week, which is going to impact how fast I can get stuff done.
Take your time. Not expecting it to get finished anyways.
Good morning Captain Downer, have you provided your daily sadness yet?
Haven’t had problems either with the version I compiled… 6 months ago or so.
Besides some switch that made the gserver crash after a time that I remember reporting.
Mandatory overtime seems to be done now, so I’m getting back to making some progress while I can. I’ve made the first post a little tidier and prettier, and the script documentation is more thorough/better laid out now. (I don’t mean that’s all I’ve done… the progress list has been updated as well.)
I’ve got some big changes coming up in my personal life, but they shouldn’t hinder efforts for too long. It’s just one thing after another.
I was thinking… this would be pretty basic but adding a capability for the main program to run a specific level (or to read a specific variable) when it opens, maybe modifiable through a .ini file…
It could make the client portable for the use of its offline gaming capabilities.
Mr. A makes his offline server.
Mr. B downloads and plays it without fiddling with any setting.
Can’t you already just send people a folder with .gani/.png/.nw’s and tell them to start at start.nw? Seems easier than modifying a client to do something humans should be able to do easily.
edit: then again, there’s an interesting method with Stepmania/Osu files, where you load it up into an archive using Winrar and just change the extension to .osu/.sm etc. Then the person downloads the file, and drags it into a folder, or onto the client and it unpacks it to a specific folder (usually /Songs/, otherwise /Skins/). The player doesn’t have to fiddle around with finding the right directory, and it’s immediately playable as it loads the file up into the program and selects it.
A similar concept could be adapted to Graal I suppose.
That stuff is a bit far off, don’t you think? But yes, it could be done. The project is temporarily on hold at the moment though.
Next stop: permanently.
It’s far, I agree; it’s also sad to hear your project is on the ice.
Whatever you get your fun from.

Perhaps some time in the future, just because I don’t pretend to know what the future holds. It won’t be permanently this time, though.

Say you’re no longer able to continue on this project, would you be willing to put your code up on a public repo?

Probably not. I really don’t see me stopping, though.

Don’t blame you for not sharing, completely understandable given all the work invested.
Out of interest, have you set any time frame as to when you expect to have the client complete?
