You might be able to get by, how good is your other stuff I wonder?
Just check with yourself before you buy it; if your stuff isn’t good enough, you might have lag I think, especially if the processor is the weakest link.

Everything does better than anything else and much higher than the recommend area. Though, I was wondering if I needed to since I only want to play single-player and not online.
Yep, at my public library everyone plays COD there and it doesn’t bother them, and those computers are bag-end-garbage. You might be fine, though I have no certificate for computer advice, so you should probably check with the others. xD
I find it hard to believe that your processor is worse than a P4, but ah well. Don’t forget if you’re running a laptop then you might not have the graphical power to run the game anyways, considering most laptop graphic cards are crap.
best way to test to see if you computer can run a game before you buy it…Pirate it (or get a demo), if that copy works then go ahead and buy it.
I’m not largely a fan of pirating larger brand games, this isn’t a option for me.

Yes, it is a laptop but the test didn’t fail by very much. I don’t know if CoD4 has in-game options to change graphical settings and whatnot as MW2 did not.

I think you may have to be careful. It might pass the test when comparing numbers but chances are it’s all shared memory, which is worth squat.
Though if you’ve already tried MW2 on the laptop that’s your best comparison there. Not much has changed.

Really? Just pirate it and if it runs buy a CD key and you are legit No need to download anything separate. Alternatively buy it on Steam and just move the install folder to your steamapps\common and rename it properly and then validate on Steam and its legit.
They never suggested you pirate it exclusively, just to see if it runs on your machine. Although if you say MW2 does COD4 is less demanding than that as the engine has been upgraded for MW2 so you should have no problems.

I have a perfectly usable desktop, but like to play ‘older’ single player games on my laptop. That is what I actually where I bought it from, Steam and tried what you did. Worked just fine.
Other than the mission where the nuke is going to go off I didn’t suffer from framerate rates, barely had to change the settings.
