anyone know anything about watercooling? not to jack your thread, but i want to do water cooling lol…
honestly, I feel like water cooling is way more work than necessary… in most situations. Regardless of how beefy your rig is, you should be able to find a case with enough fan slots to keep everything nice and chilly. All that water around all my hardware makes me entirely too nervous.
Just my opinion though.
My case has slots for water cooling, but honestly I think I have enough fans.
I agree. I don’t want liquid mixing with my electricity. My computer has three fans already and plenty of space for more. Plus a lot of things that run really hot come with fans too.
Liquid coolant isn’t water. It doesn’t conduct electricity; I’m pretty sure vegetable oil holds the same properties and you can pour it all over your components and there will be no damage whatsoever.
you don’t need it unless you are going to operate your cpu above the rated temperatures.
am i the only person who still overclocks their computer and plays games?? i want to get another 560 ti and sli it, and waiting for the new i7’s to replace my sandy bridge i7. definitely want to do it. would love to oc my computer to 5ghz
That’s pretty cool.
I have a computer that I can go onto the internet with.

Heres the stats of my main media/gameplaying PC http://speccy.piriform.com/results/Dd5Gb6CgsPuVUjBZYb6RNiQ
In short it has a AMD Phenom II x6 2.7GHz 6 core CPU, 16gb 1333MHz DDR3, 1GB GDDR5 Radeon 6600, 256gb SSD drive and all the other basic components that come with a pc.
I also have a few other computers including a Athlon 2 x2 2.8GHz with 4gb 800mhz DDR2 ram, 1gb gddr3 Radeon 4600, 2tb and 1tb SATA drives and 300GB and 80gb IDE internal drives I connect to hard drives and other resources on this computer through gigabit ethernet from my main and other computers. This computer runs Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition 32bit and serves some minor server functions. I also use this computer to run 16 and 32bit legacy software and hardware that wont work on 64bit OSes.
The third is old but still very good, powerful and reliable I use it for my web server and other services. I’ve done about a year of smooth up time on it before rebooting it.
3.0GHz Pentium 4 with 2gb 800mhz RDRAM, two 80gb IDE hard drives and a AGP 4x 32mb Geforce 4 MX420 and all the other basic stuff. This computer also runs Windows Server 2003 32bit Enterprise edition and can also boot into Xubuntu.
My main monitor is a 27 inch 16:10 Hanspree LCD TV with a max resolution of 1920x1200 I usually run my desktop and programs at 1440x900 though. This display only cost me about $200 4 years ago and still works nicely.
My keyboard is just a regular old style klunky key PS/2 and the mouse is a generic 3 button with trackwheel laser mouse.
When I use controllers I use PS2 and Gamecube gamepads connected via a usb adapter.
I also have a KVM switch that I use to switch between four different computers with the same monitor, keyboard and mouse.
I have other computers, laptops, game consoles and peripherals but it would be a waste of time to mention them all right now.
My even newer specs with my brand new 7970 GPU! This thing is awesome
