Alien Swarm is a free top-down shoot-em-up by Valve Corporation. It is a remake of the Alien Swarm mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, developed by the original team after they were hired by Valve.[1]
Contents

Gameplay

Alien Swarm is a top-down shoot-em-up set at a 60 degree angle. Up to four players can join a single co-operative game, the aim of which is to progress through science-fiction themed levels killing waves of aliens with a selection from a 40-strong arsenal of weapons. The game includes persistent statistics, unlockables and achievements.[1]
The game is class-based, with players choosing from the roles of Medic, Tech, Officer/Explosives and Special Weapons. Each class has two selectable characters.
SDK

An Alien Swarm software development kit including buildable source code was released alongside the game.[2] It is free to all users of Steam, rather than only to owners of existing Source games (as is the case with the ‘mainline’ Source SDK). This allows total conversion mods, which do not rely on content from other Valve games, to be free to all as well - a significant business decision that echoes the strategy of the Unreal Development Kit.
The SDK includes a tile-based level designing tool called TileGen, which allows level designers to prefabricate rooms and hallways that can be either arranged in a certain way or randomly arranged based on generation rules. The tool does not replace the Valve Hammer Editor, the use of which is still required before a map can be distributed.[3]

I’ve had this problem with the Dolphin emulator for Wii/GCN. It refuses to detect that I have the newest DirectX 11 and everywhere I’ve read tells me that I need to update it. >_> (I.e the error code)

it is crappy

what standards are you looking for when calling it crappy? did you even try it?

I played it, I enjoyed it. I’m still going to play it some more.

Me too

Downsider, Beholder, and I were playing this today on Hard. Downsider was the host and he kept crashing near the end of each level. :suicide:

I call Black.
I call Black.
lol

im up to level 18, I like using the flamethrower (at level 13 you unlock it for full use, instead of just on levels where its needed)

some of the items you unlock are quite useless, like the Flashlight Attachment O.o the levels are not dark enough to need a flashlight.

Flashlight allows the ship to shoot them on one of the levels.

None of you posted steam IDs. :bang:

Mine is Urbanf

mine isnt hard to guess
