GServer hosting?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone out there is doing any GServer hosting? While I am (kinda) capable of hosting Harmonia, it would probably be better for the players if someone was willing to host for me.

The dilemma is that I do not have high speed internet and that I’m running this from my laptop with an All-tel Wireless Internet modem. Lately, my laptop has had the need to restart itself at random times and this became a problem when it does it while I’m at work.

Not only the restarting, but also the crap internet connection is making it laggy for the players. I really didn’t expect to have regular players, but to my surprise, I’ve enjoyed the response the server has gotten for the most part.

If anyone if currently offering the hosting of GServers, let me know, because I would very much like a faster, more reliable option for the players and myself.

Thanks.

EDIT: Cadavre has been so kind to take me up on a couple conditions. Be sure to continue checking out the development of the server!

So you currently have hosting?

Hosting??

I’m intrested Arcain… but I would not want to release my server untill I’m “positive” its ready… like in a month… just a thought also…

Terms of Hosting

UPDATE: In light of discovering how slow my upload rate is, I am no longer considering offering hosting. I always thought it was slow but didnt realise how much it sux by comparrison. I may consider upgrading service plans in the future.

There are options to keep a server hidden, and options to make it staff only; For private Beta and testing. Could hold it under an alias then rename it for whenever you make it visible.

What kind of connection is your server on? I’m on a pretty good one…

I’d be willing to host for anyone just because I want to see Reborn go somewhere. Since Gserver is a single EXE and can host multiple servers, I’ll be giving each server 1GB of space and full FTP access to their server folder.

O_o Christ, I have to pay nearly 50/mo for just 5Mb/s

I pay nothing to have a server on 100/100 Mbits but of course, not a professional server hoster which causes downtimes.

LOL no question who has the better connection here…

multiple servers on a 0.5 Mbit connection? I have a feeling that’s going to lag terrible.

Harmonia is currently hosted on a dedicated server in US so noone should be experiencing lag on there. :stuck_out_tongue:

Woo.

You think your ISP is bad? Try mine. You notify them you’re moving, they’ll D/C you a day early and won’t set up your PHONE LINE or your INTERNET for well over a month.

LOL wow, very lame.

Maybe I will have to cancle my hosting plans after all. Nice idea though just apparently not very practical.

Arcain, I’ve never seen so much down with so little up… That’s wild… Must be the Cable Boost speeds or something…

Its called, “We cap yo ass.”

At home:

Swedish server:

I tested the server a couple of times and it varied between 50-90 on both upload and download and I’m downloading and seeding a bunch of torrents on there so that probably limits the bandwidth a bit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cadavre, my server does that too, I think its because our servers are faster than the design of the speedtest so it finishes too soon.

Anyone feel like piping a fiber optic line from one of those to my house?
All I get is half assed sell-out monopoly shit here.

Mine is always between 15-20Mbps down speed. Then the up speed is always 1.3-2Mbps. Though these tests never tell you one hundred percent, else where I try my up speed is always 1.5-2Mbps. :o

At least I’m getting fiber optic in the very near future.

Give me your damn ISP selection! There’s only two here, Aliant and Roger’s Cable. And they both suck equivalent shit! They’re not even competing with one another, they mirror each other’s prices and quality! >:O

Beholder, I only have AT&T the reason my connection is so fast on that computer is because its in a data center
