I was trying to sell Saputo on the tileset Spooon was using on Zolderon, and decided I felt like making some more overworld with it. I’m not really keeping any of the original Zolderon stuff since it was mostly demo and I’ve already thrown in a shipwreck intro that didn’t really go with Vinland.
Right now I’m just looking for name ideas, so hit me with some suggestions.
Actually trying to get away from the name Zolderon, all of the original stuff is gone. Now I’m working on the storyline.
So far you wake up on a beach with random wreckage and some old man yells down from an overlooking cliff telling you that you can’t get up without going through a cave further down the beach. (You find a shield on the beach)
The cave leads to a short quest through some wrecked ships, you find a sword and eventually make it to the top of the cliffs.
The continent is covered in forest and you find the old man sitting by a small graveyard and he takes you to his house to recover from your ordeal. You wake up in his house and he tells you about how he was banished from his village for hoarding spoons. Out of nowhere a group of bandits break into the house looking for some sort of “treasure” and the old man is fatally wounded when he resists one of the bandits. The bandits then haul you off with them to their hideout, where several years pass.
Your character reflects on what’s happened and what they’ve learned in the time that’s passed as they do work around the village. It turns out the old man had slipped you a mysterious ring while you recovered from first landing on the island. In the evening a gypsy sees your ring and tells you the significance of it, setting you forth on some epic adventure.
I will once I get started on it again, I’m balancing too much at once right now and nothings getting done.
It takes forever to make decent Graal scenes using sleep and changing animation/chat. I’m starting to worry that I’ve moved it too much towards a single player game for the first bit. Right now I think I’ll make the intro singleplayer and then warp the player to an alternate version of a level if there’s going to be an extensive scene that multi-player would fuck up.
