It was pretty much a hookshot back when Tyhm ran Classic. You had to gather a bird, chain and something else and make a birdshot. Instead of firing a hook, it fired a bird. Ya… my next sig will cover it.
Bruges Bird is a weapon that resembles a bird and hovered next-to the player. It can be used to attack baddies and move bombs. Morgan can attach the Bruges Bird to a hookshot and chain to make the Birdshot which works just like a Zelda-style Hookshot. There are two levels of Birdshot and Bruges Bird, the first level being default and the second level obtained by reaching the Lode Stone in the Sky Palace. There is also an unreleased third level. Only the Bird image for lvl3 exists; icons have been lost.

It is, isn’t it. 
I mean, you would need quite a bit of imagination to think of something like that. lol
It’s like having a pet bird. You aren’t shooting the Bird like a hookshot, rather the Bird is moving the chain.
