Hey everyone, I’ll cover how to make an 8-Bit PNG image with paint.net in this thread.
I’ll break it down in steps for everyone to easily follow.
Step 0: Don’t fucking use MS Paint to save your images. :D.
Step 1: Download paint.net via this URL.
http://www.dotpdn.com/files/Paint.NET.3.5.6.Install.zip
- Paint.NET is a freeware raster graphics editing program for Microsoft Windows, developed on the .NET Framework.
Step 2: Unzip the Zip and run the executable thus installing paint.net
Step 3: Start paint.net up after you have installed it.
Step 4: With paint.net up, make your image or load the one you want to turn into an 8-Bit PNG file.
Step 5: Click “File” in the top left corner. Select “save as”, type in the name you want and hit “Ok”.
Step 6: Now in this new window select 8-Bit for the bit depth and hit Ok
Congratulations: You are now finished!
For future reference, if you wish to skip this bullshit 8-bit PNG junk for Graal images, save it as a .gif. I hope you enjoyed this thrilling tutorial, I know I sure did.
One more thing, if you still can’t seem to do it right, send me a forum PM with the image you wish to turn into an 8-bit and I’ll do it for you.
Til’ next time folks!
