Reminds me, I forget if I crashed the Bomy Island’s NPC-Server once or twice.
I’m high maintenance as far as NPCs and Levels go, they couldn’t keep up with me ;D

Well, layers sound pretty useless right now.

Well Stefan said he could easily add a way to make layers draw over players(similar to the image layers(0-3), from my suggestion). But ya, they’re useless without an editor. But with an editor, they would be very, very useful.

A new editor would be nice. Of course, though, it probably will not be done anytime soon.

Reflecting Shields: Broken since Graalv2
Spin Attack: Broken since Graalv2
Using a Sword on a Horse: Broken since Graalv2
GraalEditor: Not updated since v4

Yeah, they have a good track record for NOT FIXING SHIT THEY BROKE OVER 8 YEARS AGO.

Actually, reflecting shields have been broken since the very start. All of the v1 reflecting is just graphical.

Unless you mean the second version of Graal ever released, then yeah, you’re probably right.

I swear, if I could just get my hands on the source code, I would LEARN to write… whatever it’s coded in just to fix some of that shit. And add new shit, like shields that actually matter past level 3.

You could always make the shields DO something past level3. There are 32 shield levels. xD

Yeah, make different projectiles require higher and higher levels to block. Just some thoughts:
Level 4 - block/reflect fireblast
Level 5 - block/reflect nukeshot
Level 6 - block explosives (so as long as you’re facing a bomb when it goes off it stops at your shield)
Level 7 - block normal baddy swords
Level 8 - block gold warrior swords
level 9 - block player level 1 swords
etc.

All the while reflected projectiles could become faster and more powerful (so arrows do 2 half hearts of damage and fireballs do 4.)

Yeah, shields not sucking would be nice. Anyone think they can code Graal from scratch…?

Used this to set up my Mega Man tileset. Thanks.

There are really 32 shield levels? Meh, well the game never intended for them to go past level 4, I believe.

Let’s not forget the level 20 swords and the healing swords.

Level 3, actually. Normal, mirror, lizard.

and yeah, healing swords are awesome! I wish they had a way to get them on the official servers back when I played. I’d be all “pow pow pow fix’d” and they’d be all “imma pk u now” and I’d be all “Geneva Convention, bitch!” and they’d be all “lolwhut” and by then I’d probably be dead.

Basically fits Zelda 3 standards(level 4 sword was max, level 3(mirror) shield was max)… though he did add the possibility for higher(and lower!) levels.

Well, it wasn’t originally called Zelda Online for nothing.

Come to think of it, do negative shield levels do anything?

Implode.

I wonder, was there ever a utility or anything released that allowed you to edit the old Arrays.dat files? I went in hoping I could change some stuff around–my pics.png is highly customized and there’s some tiles I could repurpose–but it’s all a garbled mess in notepad.

Doubt it.

That would be the same as having a custom pics1.png and sprites.png, it would screw up every other server.

Plus, whats to stop someone from changing all the tiles to “0”, instant “wall walking”.

Offline, Beholder. Offline.
I am pretty sure reflecting shields have worked before. I could have sworn it worked in the pre-2.x era before ganis were created. The hilarious thing is that spin.gani doesn’t work. Even I managed to create a terrible hack in the new gserver to support it.
Yes, all these things were broken once converted over to ganis because back then everything was heavily dependent on sprite indexes, the system still uses sprite indexes however the ganis are less dynamic than what they had.
