State of the art AI: Deep learning

I don’t know if you guys know about the fabled coming “singularity” that will be the advent of machines so advanced humanity will not know what hit it. This video about state of the art AI makes the idea seem a lot less foolish.

Will we become “obsolete” as transhumanists believe? No, I think they’re showing their unhealthy enthusiasm for technology. Why would it ever become a need to use inventions as intrusive as thought uploading or implanted technology.

Anyhow, the reality that new-perspective-on-actual-knowledge discoveries will possibly soon come in a bundle and that much more jobs will become obsolete than it’s usually expected is clear, and the latter is quite poignant.

full circle! illegal aliens already took all the best jobs like washing dishes and mowing the grass not to mention picking our fruit and now its all being taken away by machines what sick irony is this??

I think we will finally get to choose what we’d rather do. Fruit picking is fun, the world would be a boring place if it was to be delegated to robots.

Today’s era influenced jobs will die out to be replaced by jobs of a new era. We will finally get rid of many of industrial era’s tedious jobs. (Information management, chain manufacturer…) Will we be short of inspiration on what to do? I don’t think so anymore, but maybe economy will need a rethinking… anyhow, whatever happens will be gradual; everyone would panic otherwise so the general population will stop it from being too drastic.

Here’s a list of possible jobs of the future (and some already existing??) to help you keep your hopes up:

I am more skeptical about true artificial intelligence. Sure you can have a complex series of automated functions and pseudo-random number generation and near-randomness based on fixed algorithms and you can increase the complexity and number of them using more resources but that is not true originality or intelligence as of that produced by humans.

on a side note most humans are devolving and losing the ability of true thinking and intelligence.

Unless humanity pulls it’s collective head out of it’s own backside their future will literally be that of the matrix. Locked inside a “pod” with the occulus rift and devices the literally suck out your blood http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/138729-Blood-Sucking-Blood-Sport-Heads-to-Kickstarter hooked up to you to feed the beast.

I don’t think randomness is what’s used… it’d be more in terms of procedural generation… which can be really powerful already:

Also I don’t see humans as worse than usual at thinking, the vast majority of the human population has always had a hard time thinking for themselves.
