The Last Remnant (PC)

Anyone played this GEM of an RPG? It’s pretty fantastic.

I’m currently on my 3rd (consecutive) playthrough, and I’m not losing any steam. I don’t really know what else to say; I don’t want to get into specifics, because you’ll end up with a book. But definitely check this out if you get a chance.

P.S. Don’t play the XBOX version, it’s pretty broken. The game was re-released on PC a year or so later and all of the systems had been fixed. Get that one.

Yeah, I’ve placed this before. Never finished but it’s a really well done RPG. The battle mechanics are a bit tricky because there’s tactics involved for a change, but I never fully understood how to get specific commands to come up such as heal or ress. The crafting system is pretty damn good too. You actually have to visit these places you wouldn’t normally go to get the materials to craft the better gear. Also, if I remember correctly the boss fights scale with your level, so you can’t just breeze through. You need to rely on your tactics.

Yeah. The battle mechanics are a bit tricky, but mastering them is a big part of the fun. And the crafting system is huge (frustratingly so, sometimes). The game is very well done, even if the story is a bit cheesy. The only problem most people seem to have with it is that it’s pretty damn hard.

Shaddap. Those three playthroughs span like 8 months. Also, I’ll hit you up when I get real interwebz (rocking phone interwebz for now; should be up and running early next week). I totally finished a certain GUI project and I think you’ll like it.

I hope you’re not lieing.

I read the info on the battle system of this on wikipedia

sounds sort of like Chrono Cross (no random battles, must touch them to engage)

I may “aquire” this

im trying to get it. it’s hard. not a lot of people with it.

It’s on STEAM.

it’s also at GameStop, Walmart, Amazon, whatever. if i wanted to buy stuff, i wouldnt have become a nerd.

I bought it on steam a while back when it was 9.99. However, I can’t believe they are charging 50 bucks for a game that came out in 2008. That’s nonsense. Steal it.

I picked it up when it was around £10. It’s now £20 on STEAM for me.

I found it grindy and based entirely on luck.

Sometimes you’d have enough to do a limit break to finish off a boss; Do you have the option to use it on your turn? 33% chance is not in your favor.
Boss readies up his next move- He uses an attack that damages every team for more health than they have total.

Love it. (sarcasm)

Not based on luck. Based on build. On the PC you can disable arts, which allows for much greater control over what each unit does with each option. And if you pay attention to your unit classes and build your unions well, you have far more control over which options show up.

That’s the problem I had, Rone. I just didn’t know how to build my squads.

Yeah, it takes a little bit of trial and error. Also, this game has an insanely extensive wiki (for a single player RPG) that has lots of helpful information.
