Tileset update

Here’s what I’ve been working on ignore the tile errors still working on the roof

that’s one badass goat. i like it.

I’m sorry, but it looks like the house lies flat on the ground.

I think it has something to do with the roof pattern being too much like the rock pattern of the house and the colors are still pretty flat I will adjust the shading and give the roof some highlights and add shadows to the undersides of the support beams on the house.

Thx for the crit I want these tiles to kick ass so I’m not going to make any real levels until I perfect them.

I also think the cliff tiles need recoloring to a more realistic rock color I just noticed they look a little orange like a bad spray on tan.

The black outline is also a no go for me. Makes it look too rough/sharp and that each object is not part of the environment. Suggestion is to use a different shade of the nearest color instead.

While I agree, I also think there is a charm about games that have a ‘flat’ perspective. Just thought I’d throw that in, but don’t let it influence you too much into keeping things the same, because experimenting multiple ways and times is always for the best.

I love the color choice, and black outlines are part of his style. The house lacks depth though, and it bothers me too. I think it might be the fact that it’s shadowless…

maybe the dark object of the house tiles is supposed to draw your eye towards it with it’s odd darkness…?

idk I’m not speaking for Sublime, just interpreting it visually.

BROKEN PERSPECTIVE

I dunno if I’m normal then, since I definitely looked at the house first in that image.

My priorities in image viewing is (and I’ve heard most follow this too):

  1. Center point
  2. highest contrast point (the place where there is a purpose for having little or more contrast or color)
  3. places of interest (text, clothing, abstract parts, etc)
  4. places of intention (where the artist WANTS you to look)

although, the way people view images highly reflects their artistic style, so this is in no way trying to criticize.

I made 2 recolors of the tree and a new roof still needs work but I like the brighter trees allot better I see what your saying about the contrast now.

loving the third one, it fits in better with the tileset and actually has a sense of depth to it that the others didn’t.

The seal has been broken…
Be prepared…
IT COMES.

I like the middle tree’s trunk and the right tree’s leaves.

I think the tiles would blend in more and have a better unity if the black outlines are replaced. Just saying. I’m no pro pixelartist, or whatever.
