Winamp.com and associated web services will no longer be available past December 20, 2013. Additionally, Winamp Media players will no longer be available for download. Please download the latest version before that date. See release notes for latest improvements to this last release.
Thanks for supporting the Winamp community for over 15 years.
Very sad to hear, one of my favorite media players for music is being discontinued. I guess this is AOL’s fault!
I hope they opensource it or something.
What. the. fuck.
I guess I’ll have to make do with the latest version? Or will it no longer be allowed to be downloaded?
What music player should I resort to if it happens where Winamp just gets completely phased out?
They released v5.66 today with a lot of fixes and such along with the notice it’s being shut down. Download it and mirror the installer!
As long as windows doesn’t do any mayor changes that might make Winamp incompatible I guess you could use it for as long as you like.
I use foobar2000 and Spotify anyways, but I’m still sad to hear this. Unexpected.
more imporantly… runescape?? really??! i haven’t played in years, but it seems i was permanently banned in april for botting. found out two months ago, kind of a shame
Remember kids, WinAmp WHIPS THE LLAMA’S ASS!
I remember back when I was using mIRC, WinAMP, WinZip, NetScape Communicator 4 and other old software…
Most of the good oldschool things has been or is in the process of being discontinued…
I have most of the old versions of pretty much everything saved on CDs and hard drives.
You can still download some old stuff at http://www.oldapps.com/?ModPagespeed=noscript and a few other places, just search for it.
WinAmp was good in the 90’s but quickly became far too bloated much in the same way ICQ after 99b and everything else AOL bought out.
I use foobar2000 and VLC, and media player classic to play everything.
Runescape is probably the only other game ever to ban more people for made up nonsense than Graal…
I’m surprised to learn I’m not the only user of fubar2000.
Winamp was bloatware anyway.
