Minecraft

someone who is a good graphics artist to port the basic tiles of graal into minecraft, the chest, outside house walls (wood), inside walls (maybe replacing the ironblock or goldblock), redoing the zombie/skeleton/creeper to look somewhat like graal baddies, etc…

.>

I already know this is gonna get flamed by anti-minecraft people, im just auto-ignoring those people.

I suck at Graphics Design

(see attached)
this is the terrain.png I use (I modded the original Highdef texturepack to include pieces for the FancyFurniture mod)

You know I got a texture pack out, right?

I just tried changing the chest into the graal one…didnt turn out right, also Shiny. spread the wealth, if you have a graal texturepack for minecraft, then why is it not public?

It’s not finished, but it is public. http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=45333

thx  looks really nice

Minecraft textures are 16x16. 32x32 textures are considered “high resolution” and need a patcher to fix Minecraft to display them properly.

And anything over 32x32 tends to look like shit anyway, especially since most are just images pulled from google.

the HD Minecraft texturepack I use is 32x32, and when I copy-pasted, and modded the chest to replace the chest of minecraft, it was perfect size…I just need to shrink the lid, etc to make it look better…

anyone know what tile(s) would make for a good furnace/workbench

I use this one:

Looks amazing :o

Looks like shit o___o
Googled Images, increase contrast, add texture filter.
All of those blocks were meant to be seen from the side perspective, the ones you see from the top look like total ass.

Reminds me of Oblivion’s engine, for better or worse. (where everything had this sharp glow on any “bump”)

The terrain looked nice. Just not the “inside” parts, the whole thing was too dark, and the images didn’t really seem to fit with each other.

Pretty much what Beholder just said.

Here’s the other one he did

Not really sure which is better.

Here’s one that I know isn’t Google Imaged for sure :stuck_out_tongue: (Different artist)

Although screenshots might not be working since he doesn’t have PhotoBucket pro and they keep bandwidth exceeding (lamest image site seriously)

Kondie, the more you talk, the more I dislike you. You’re like one of those 16 year old gamers who think OMFG GOOD GRAFIX OR BAD GAME, which is fine, if you thought Crysis’s story was awesome. Minecraft is an amazing game, and revitalized a genre that we hadn’t seen in years. The only thing like it, in recent memory, was Gary’s Mod, and even that can hardly hold a lantern to the customization of minecraft. Sure, in gary’s mod you can code mods, but LUA isn’t fun. Anyone can play minecraft and do almost anything you want. People have made ALUs, CPUs, RAM, etc in Minecraft, and the best part of it, THEY’RE HAVING FUN. So stop bashing a game based solely on it’s graphics. Anyone with a mind beyond that of an undisciplined child can see graphics don’t mean shit. That’s why all these indie games are blowing up and competing with the professional game-making companies.

I wish I could play MineCraft. I don’t feel like ponying over the dough though >:|

Theres a “Classic” mode. You don’t get to play with the big boys and everyone looks like a gimp, but its basically “free build”.

I don’t play Minecraft myself, but my boyfriend does, and spends quite a bit of time on it. Therefore, I think I have a pretty good grasp of what the game is, and have seen enough to be able to fairly criticize it fairly.

From what I see, I agree with Kondie… Minecraft has HORRIBLE graphics… and not horrible graphics in the awesome NES game sense, but horrible graphics in the Atari WTF is going on sense.

Yes it is 3D and has a better resolution (if you say so) but the pixels from Atari are just made bigger, into “blocks” for Minecraft.

The Horrible Graphics isn’t the only reason I think Minecraft is a horrible game though. Another reason is that taking blocks (Materials) from one place and putting them in another to make something isn’t a (good) concept for a game but a concept for a paint. What’s that? “but paint isn’t a MMO” you say? well there are sites where you can draw with other people over the internet. Ones in which there is no need to milk more octopuses for more ink…
Another thing I hate about Minecraft is the system it uses to create things… there is no rhyme or reason… why do you put certain materials in certain slots on a grid to make items/things? This makes no sense to me. My boyfriend just informed me that the creators of Minecraft released the combinations… but I’m guessing there could still be hidden combinations to make special things. for all you know… there could be purple people eaters you can fly around on if you put the right materials in the right combination. I guess we’ll never know…

Those are just a few reasons why Minecraft is horrible, I could go on forever but this is getting long…

Though I personally do not like Minecraft, and do not understand why most of you do. I wish you the best and more pleasurable gaming experience.

LOL I love how to simplify the description to make it seem like the most boring thing ever. “Oh look, you take one block from here and put it here. That’s not fun!”

You love how to simplify… alright…
Well I think what you were getting at was my oversimplification of one of my topics.

It’s only three lines of my post… (roughly 25%)
I agree still kinda wordy… o well…

Oversimplification for a overly simple game =)

Because the rest of your post holds no interest. You admitted you haven’t played it, so everything else you say is taken with a grain of salt no matter how much you’ve watched someone else play.

You can oversimplify any game, yet look at the simplest games that are classics. Pacman, Donkey Kong, MARIO. Mario was all about running from the left to the right and jumping. How fun when you put it that way, huh?

Minecraft is about exploration, a unique experience, creativity, our inner child(it’s fucking LEGOS), collecting(something most games build strictly around, like Animal Crossing) and some RPG aspects. Don’t knock it til’ you try it. There’s a reason hundreds of thousands of people play it and enjoy it.

And the graphics are programmer graphics, but they don’t really burn my eyes. If it does, get one of the many other packs out there.
