Comp Specs

Yeah it sucks. You made the right choice to buy new stuff.

New specs of my gaming rig I built a few weeks ago.

can post picture if anyone wants

I would love to see pictures, also that build is amazing. I should probably post some pics of my battlestation too.

Haha thanks man, my case is a HAF XM from coolermaster

Wow that’s a huge block on your processor lol.

Wish my wiring could be as neat as yours. Bought the Samsung 840 and just received it today so you can see my mess

Joey, wtf

Yeah it’s pretty damn big, it is the NH-D14 made by Noctua.

hahahahaa i got super obsessed for some reason, put 4 fans on the side, some high performance fan on back, 4 fans (push/pull) on my h100i radiator. 4770k overclocked to 4.2 ghz, my computer idles 29-33c and ran an intel stress test for 30m highest core temperature reached 67.

why didn’t you go for the liquid cooling cpu kits?

I really wanted to get an h100, but it was a bit out of my budget at the time. I also watched reviews of both coolers and I found that the average temps were really not that different so I decided to save the $30

Coolers are over rated anyway. A good normal heatsink does the job fine.

h100i was the reason i destroyed my last motherboard. stupid corsair link never even worked right, i was leaving on a cruise and needed my computer on while i was gone so i didn’t have the chance to rma it. still corsair link shit didn’t work, ended up buying 2 pwm splitters and separating each set of fans in the two cpu headers.

nothing but trouble and money the damn thing cost me, but it does do a good job keeping the temperatures low so I guess thats a plus to all the bs. super jealous of your video card, but i don’t game enough to justify the cost so i’ll have to wait until I have money to spare or my video card goes.

unless theirs some demand for 560ti on ebay to offset the cost of a new one. sold my brothers sandy bridge 2500k for $156 on ebay to offset my new processor a bit

i have so much shit in my room well electronics and unless i keep my door open my room gets pretty hot. figured it might help a bit to have my computer run a little colder. can’t even have my server(s) on, generates too much heat gonna wait until I can think of a good way to cool them. (have 2)

This is what you do. Setup a headless VM on every computer in the house, and then cluster them together. That way as long as you got 1 computer running you will have your server up. I did this while in high school. You can even get real sneaky and install a headless VM on your friend’s computers and attach them to a VPN.

been running it off virtualbox on my desktop computer (why i needed my computer up for the week I was gone). I setup cloudstack on my two servers, using my virtualbox on my main pc as the managing server but anytime a VM was running the core temperatures would idle around 50-55 celcius with no cpu usage which would make my room insanely hot pretty quickly. in another month or two when the temperature starts coming down i’m going to set it all back up and figure something out by next summer

Oh I forgot to mention the point of my post which is this: you don’t have to keep your servers in your room.

hahaaaa, it’s a lot easier for me to test in my room especially when dealing with cloudstack which kills my internet half the damn time in setting it up

For some reason I have been having the urge to rent a FreeBSD VPS again. FreeBSD is fun to play with.

never played with many linux distributions, really played with redhat/mandrake a billion years ago and currently centos / ubuntu usually

don’t you dare start calling FreeBSD a Linux distribution.

sry, maybe one day you can point out the differences and educate me

Different kernel and userland
