I’m pretty sure hybrid drives are half flash and half regular hard drive combined in one case. I would personally just spend a little more for a full SSD drive. I use a 256gb Crucial M4 SSD http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=365476&CatId=5300 the performance is much better compared to regular 7200 rpm hard drives. Just be sure to avoid unnecessarily rewriting data on a SSD or it will shorten it’s lifespan. I also have a 1 and 2TB SATA internal drive, a 2TB external USB drive along with dozens of other IDE hard drives ranging from 40MB, 20GB to 300GB along with hundreds of burnt DVD and CD R’s and hundreds of 3.5 and 5.25 floppy disks.
On another note every HP laptop I’ve seen since 2004 has been pretty shitty and with it being prepacked with Windows 8 x64 I have a feeling that one will be pretty awful too. I’d go with Acer, Asus or some other brand and any other OS… While AMD has lagged behind Intel in overall performance in the past few years it’s still a great brand and best value to performance ratio. Almost every PC I have has an AMD cpu and ATI graphics card.
Hybrid drives usually have a small flash drive used for caching frequently used files, but it’s definitely worth spending the money for an SSD. Especially since lately they have come down in price
I have an Acer Aspire 5750g (same as spooon), it works great but overheats like a bitch. I had to get a hacked bios just to get the fan working properly on linux. :S
I replaced my hard drive not too long after i bought it to get more space. And I trashed the DVD-drive instantly to get to use an extra hard drive instead.
You know what overheats like a bitch? Fucking HP laptops. I sold mine to a friend who had the money to pay me to fix it up (HP Pavilion dv6706us series), and it ended up being alright. Dropped the idle CPU/GPU temp from 58°C to 28°C just from re-applying thermal paste, but I did use Arctic Silver. Also, no, I didn’t charge him for labor, just for what I had to buy to fix it.
tldr; Fuck stock thermal paste, yo.
So, figured I’d update my comp specs on here.
Gigabyte 78LMT-SP2 (AM3+) Motherboard
AMD FX-4130 [email protected] ([email protected]) 4 Processing Threads
ASUS Radeon HD7770 GHz Edition (OC) 2GB GDDR5 128-bit PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready
Ballistix DDR3 8gb Ram@1,333mhz
320gb Western Digital Black HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit OS)
500gb Seagate Barracuda (Hilarious story as to how I obtained)
Nice build, I used to own an HP laptop, would burn my leg. Eventually it just gave up and didn’t turn on anymore (only 1.5 years of use). So I carved swastikas into it and wrote “HP = Hiter’s Products”. That thing was actually pretty good for games, too bad they’re built poorly. Also, I’d love to hear how you got that HDD.
Merged doublepost_______________
Battlestation pics, also whats in the box?

Hahaha, dude take a fucking picture of that. That’s some god damn gold. Speaking of gold.
Anyways, on to the story. I really needed a disk drive because for some god damn reason, I had 15 IDE disk drives at home, but no SATA disk drives. Now, I’m not willing to buy a converter because I’m already running an expensive card that takes a lot of power on a built in, shitty PSU. So, I consult my friend’s dad (he’s a computer technician and has a shit ton of parts) about how I needed a disk drive and he just fucking hands me that 500gb HD sitting on his desk. I was like, “Um, thanks, but I needed a disk drive.” He said, “Yeah, a disk drive, a hard disk.” and then pointed at the hard drive. -awkward silence- Then he realized and he’s like, “Oh, well you can keep the hard disk, but we don’t even sell disk drives where I work anymore.” So, yeah, free 500gb HD. Who am I to argue?
Sorry, I threw that laptop out a few months ago, I regret not taking pictures now.
I guess I’ll tell an interesting computer story. One day my friend and I were pissing around on the computers at our school and not in class because somehow we manage to bullshit our way into getting to the computer lab. So anyways some teachers were cleaning shit out of there and they hand us some stuff to take to the dumpster. The moment we reach the dumpster we start pilfering through everything. One box had over 100 sticks of RAM, all old, but we kept it anyways. There was also some ghetto video cards, I picked up one and cut myself on some conveniently placed spikes on the back. My friend kept half the stuff in his locker for the rest of the year and sometime we’d just through RAM at people because we could. It’s strange to think that when all of that was purchased it was likely $1000s of dollars, and now it’s just shit that’s on a one-way trip to the dumpster.
Yeah I guess, I’m too lazy to deal with selling stuff online though.
Anyways I might as well post what is the box. It’s my new headphones, and these ones are guaranteed to work

Spoiled little brat… Without your parents to buy you all the things you desire, would you ever survive on your own? And knowing how to make a house out of a frogs anus does not count…
